July 2008 update:

The only thing that we don't like about Pepper is that she hasn't given us a daughter yet!  But hopefully soon she will.  Pepper is so wonderful that we want more like her.  Congrats to Pepper for being named an Elite Doe by the USDA for the second time in a row!  Pepper also was awarded her Superior Genetics title last year.

July 2007 update:

Pepper is a big girl.  Her body is big, she milks big, and this year she kidded big.  She delivered quadruplets, then got to work making lots of milk.  Pepper is a patient girl on the milk stand.  Occasionally we’ll have someone here that wants to learn how to milk a goat.  Pepper is perfect for the job – her teats are slightly oversized and very supple, her udder milks out easily, and she is willing to stand quietly while the “newbie milker” figures out what to do.  The novice milkers are often a bit worried about the sheer size of Pepper’s udder, but soon find that she’s is so fun and easy to milk that they have a bucketful in no time at all.   Pepper loves her job and does it very well.  We enjoy her immensely.

July 2006 update:

Pepper didn’t start off slow in the milking parlor!  She kidded with two beautiful bucklings and, so, started her career.  She has a wonderfully soft udder with long plumb teats, and is doing a great job making high quality milk for David’s cheesemaking.  Pepper just loves coming into work twice a day.  Her milk stand is right next to her sister, Poppy’s, and Pepper likes that, too.  Those two girls are almost inseparable.

More background on Pepper (2005)

This girl is big and flamboyant! When born, she was a bit slow to get started, but she seems to be building up some momentum now and will certainly be a girl to watch. She’s friendly and loving and having a lot of fun being a kid.
