July 2008 update:

At three years old Sam finally seems to be settling in and losing her troublemaking streak.  She is becoming an important part of our dairy here and leaving the troublemaking to the younger crowd.

July 2007 update:

Sam is the official Black Mesa Ranch Troublemaker. This girl can think of more ways to get into trouble – and then DO them! For instance, as a kid, she once darted under a moving truck and got ran over. But, as is Sam’s way, she wasn’t hurt (much) and survived to take on the troublemaking challenge another day. With that said, we found it amazingly strange that when she kidded this year, she quickly and easily delivered an 8.5# buckling and a 6.6# doeling – both in the diving position, both healthy, strong, and ready for life.  An hour from the time her water broke she was done and out of there. She had plans. We are sure they involved mischief and/or mayhem.

July 2006 update:

Yes, Sam is a troublemaker, always getting into mischief.  Sadly, some of that mischief included kidding too early.  Her milk hadn’t come in yet and her baby was too premature to survive.  But Sam was born to be a milk goat and is insisting on coming into the milking parlor to contribute.  She’s actually not doing poorly, either.  Though it’s doubtful that she’ll get her milking star this year, she will certainly get it next year – providing that she doesn’t get into more trouble.

More background on Sam (2005)

Sesame is a lovely speckled girl with a white splash on her side that looks like a map of the good old USA.  She is also a trouble maker.  She’s definitely a “smoking-in-the-bathroom, skipping-class, in-your-face” kind of girl.  But, the girl does know how to get her way and is quite spoiled.  She loves to hang around her people and sit in their laps.
