One Day Workshops for Small Groups

Spend a day on the ranch!  Start at 7 AM helping to milk our fine Nubian dairy goats, then watch that milk become fine farmstead, artisan cheese - including our Fresh Cheeses, Feta, and Boule.  Learn cheese making techniques, processes, and how to form and wrap the cheeses.  Work with the goats, play with the goats, and learn how to care for them.  It's a jam packed day filled with learning, fun, and new experiences.  The day finishes up around 7 PM with the evening milking.

The One-Day Workshop Package is $1000 per group for groups of up to 6 people.  The price includes beverages and a nice lunch, featuring our goat cheeses and other ranch produced foods.  Overnight lodging at BMR is available.

Three Day Full-Immersion Workshops

Scheduling now for Spring and Summer 2009

Be prepared for non-stop learning and participation! This is an in-depth experience into the life of cheesemaking and goat management. There are many diverse activities and it’s all hands on.

Milk the goats and follow that milk all the way to finished, packaged fine cheeses ready to be shipped to distinctive restaurants and gourmet shops around the country. Bottle feed the goat kids and maybe even help deliver some if you're here during kidding season. See how living “off-grid” has it’s benefits and drawbacks. Live a homesteader's dream.

We start at 7:00 AM with chores and milking the goats, the work day ends about 12 hours later after evening milking.  Full use of the bunkhouse, plus all meals, featuring Goat Cheese and other ranch grown products, are included in the package.

Here's a link to a detailed look at a typical 3-day cheese-making workshop.

The Three-Day Workshop Package is $1000 per person, minimum of 2 people (adults only).  The price includes three very full days of ranch life, plus three nights in our bunkhouse, and all meals. Details on lodging at BMR are at the bottom of this page.

Here's more information on scheduling your workshop.

A Simple Ranch Retreat

If you're not looking for anything quite as focused, hands-on or intense as one of our workshops but would still like to come to the Ranch for a day or two, enjoy the peace, get away, hang-out, take hikes, (do nothing), read a book, watch sunsets, put your feet up, (do nothing), hunt for petrified wood or ancient pottery shards, play with the animals (do nothing), and eat some great food... we are here for you!

Stay in our Bunkhouse (details below) for $150 per night per person, including meals, and just relax.  Occupancy specifics: minimum of 2 people, maximum of 6 people.  Adults only, no children permitted for overnight lodging, no pets.

Lodging and Meals at BMR

David is a schooled gourmet chef and prepares meals that feature primarily ranch-grown products. The accommodations in our Bunkhouse, while still a bit rough around the edges, are quite comfortable. There is a full kitchen, great room, two full bathrooms, one large sleeping area downstairs with two full beds and one twin bed, two pull-out sleeper sofas upstairs, plus two roomy redwood decks from which to enjoy our lovely ranch vistas and sunsets.

Use of the Bunkhouse, which includes dinners with the family, working lunches, and continental breakfasts, are included with the three day workshop.  Additional nights are available for $100 per person including meals.  Bunkhouse lodging (with meals) without workshop participation is $150 per night per person (minimum of 2 people, maximum of 6 people).  Adults only, no children permitted for overnight lodging, no pets.

Here are some photos of our Bunkhouse
