Every year we bring in some weener pigs so that we can feed them the whey from our cheesemaking. Many years ago we started out with getting just one pig but we still had excess whey, the next year we got two, then three and still we had whey left over. Well, this year we got eight of those cute little squealers. I think they will be able to slurp up all the whey that we can make for them!

After our cheesemaking season is over the hogs are sold. Their meat is wonderful and we have no problem finding buyers for these fellas. When the pigs arrive here in the early part of the year they are probably around 20#. When they leave at the end of the year they are close to (or over) 600#. That's a lot of very tasty pork!
